I’ve taught four of my children to read and it seems like they always need a bit of extra practice on their short vowels. Children learn best when they are having fun so I love to come up with games that also sneak in learning. That is why I’ve created this Short Vowel Phonics Game. It’s a bit of a combination of Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders.

Nature-Themed Preschool Worksheets
I’ve recently created some Nature-themed preschool worksheets. While I don’t think worksheets are an essential part of a preschool curriculum, some children love doing them. This set of worksheets cover math, literacy, and visual perception. They have a fun nature theme with hand-drawn images. I’ve added a touch of color here and there for interest, but I know we’re all ink-conscious so I’ve kept it to a minimum.
My Favorite Preschool Curriculum Programs
Here are some of my favorite preschool programs. Do I think a preschool program is necessary? No, I don’t. Read, play, read some more, go outside (probably one of the most important things you can do), and above all, point your child to Jesus. Don’t be over-eager to push academics. You can never redo these days.
We Were Tired of Living in a House
I wanted to introduce you to one of our favorite vintage children’s books, We Were Tired of Living in a House by Liesel Moak Skorpen. This book is about a group of children who decide to leave their home in search of a new place to live. They try out a tree, a cave, a pond, the seashore, and then, after a series of mishaps, eventually decide to move back home. This is one book that I don’t mind reading over and over, which is a good thing because my little girl loves to hear it.
Complete-a-Dot Printable Activities
I made these Complete-a-Dot Printable Activities for my daughter a while ago and am only now getting them up on my blog. My little girl loved matching the stickers to the right colors.
These Complete-a-Dot printable activity pages are meant to be used with three-quarter inch office labels. I bought some at the dollar store, or you could buy them on Amazon. You could also use Do a Dot markers.
