I’ve been looking through seed catalogs lately and dreaming of gardening. All the beautiful varieties made me think of putting together a seed catalog scavenger hunt. This fun printable is a great way to expose your little one to new vegetables and get them interested in gardening.
There are two different scavenger hunts included (with some overlap between the two). One focuses more on vegetable names and the other focuses more on their appearance. For the more difficult one, your child will have to read the names of the vegetable varieties as well as look at the pictures. It was perfect for my 7-year old daughter. She loved finding the different types of vegetables in our seed catalogs.

I made the scavenger hunt using Baker Creek’s Seed Catalog. They have the most beautiful seed catalog I’ve ever seen. It is filled with an amazing diversity of vegetable varieties. I have vegetables on my to-grow list that I never knew existed until I read their catalog.
I also tested it with a seed catalog from Seeds ‘n Such. If you don’t have any seed catalogs, you can order either of these for free.
Here are some other companies that send out free seed catalogs.

Print out several copies of this fun scavenger hunt and let your children see who can fill it in first. This would also make a fun group activity. Just make sure you have a seed catalog and a print-out for each child. This product is free for subscribers. Enter your email below to receive the download.
