We made some seed paper recently and I made some new cards to showcase the hearts. We used Candy Cane Mix zinnia seeds so I painted some watercolor zinnias for the front of the cards.
You can buy the Candy Cane Mix zinnia seeds from Baker Creek Seeds for a few dollars (with free shipping), or you can pick them up at a department store. This is still cheaper than the price of one card and you can probably make 4-6 cards from one packet of seeds.

I’ve included three different options for the folded cards and one smaller card.

Follow the instructions in this tutorial to make the seed paper hearts. Since we were using a packet of seeds we just placed a few seeds on top of each of the hearts. If you have dried petals or leaves, you could add those, too.
Attach to the printed cards with a bit of white school glue.
The back of the cards has brief instructions about how to plant the seed paper. You’ll want to cover the paper with a bit of soil and keep moist. Once the seedlings are up, you can transplant them into separate pots.

I think you’ll enjoy making and giving these seed paper cards as much as the person receiving them. I’m looking forward to saving seeds and petals this fall from my own zinnias to use in these cards.
