Gardens are for Growing by Chelsea Tornetto is a sweet gardening book about a young girl and her dad. As we watch them garden together, the daughter grows from toddler to an adult with a child of her own.
Both gardening and family relationships are dear to my heart so I’m excited to see both featured in this lovely book.
The book is written in a rhyming format that is fun to read. I think your child will enjoy the repeated refrain “gardens are for growing”. I also love all the gardening details in the beautiful illustrations.

The publisher’s description states, “In this tender poem, the love between a father and daughter blossoms alongside the seeds they plant together. As the garden grows, the daughter grows from a toddler to a teen and finally to a woman with a child of her own. The cottage core illustrations beautifully connect the seasons of nature with the seasons of life, where new beginnings abound.”
Sunshine is for soaking up,
and seeds are meant for sowing.
Raindrops give small sprouts a drink,
and gardens are for growing.
Chelsea Tornetto is a mom of two and writes books to strengthen families and faith. She has also written a book called God Made You Too which celebrates how special your child is to God.
