The month of February would be a great time to help you family focus on showing each other love. (Of course, you could do it anytime else as well.) Create a culture of honor and kindness in your home with this “Be Ye Kind” Valentine’s Day Activity.
Romans 12:10 says, “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another.” (KJV) Honor means to treat with courtesy and respect. If you honor someone, it will help them feel special and loved.

Take Delight in Showing Honor
I enjoyed looking at the above verse in different translations. Each translation made me think of a new aspect of honoring each other. The NLT states, “Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.” Do we take delight in honoring each other? Or do we view it as a chore?
Outdoing Each Other in Showing Honor
The ESV says, “Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.” Think of how our homes would be a haven if we we each tried to outdo each other in showing honor. Instead of ignoring, or even groaning, when a need arises, we would be all trying to meet the need first.
We’d be quick to say: “Let me get you a drink of water”, “I’d be happy to help you”, or “You go first.”

How to Use the Valentine’s Day Kindness Activity
Download and print out the “Be Ye Kind” Valentine’s Day Hearts. Cut out each heart and attach to 6-inch craft sticks. (I found mine at the Dollar General.) Place in a mason jar. Fourteen different activities are included with an option to add your own ideas. Each card is beautifully illustrated with baby woodland animals.
Have your child pick one card a day for the first two weeks of February, or you could do more than one card a day over a shorter time period. You could also just start over when you’ve finished all the cards.

If you have multiple children, you could give each of them their own jar with their own cards. There are labels you can use at the end of the document to mark your jars with your children’s name.
I created this Valentine’s Day Kindness Activity to help us get in the habit of looking for ways to honor others. I hope that you will find it useful, and that by the time you are done, you will be excited about looking for new ways to show appreciation for your family members, friends, and neighbors.
