I’ve been reading through Proverbs lately and writing down some scripture prayers for my children. I thought I would share them with you to encourage you not to forget to pray for our children. We can do our best to raise good children, and we may succeed in raising polite, obedient children, but without a moving of the Spirit of God, we cannot raise godly children.
Proverbs 1
Heavenly Father, help my children to know wisdom and instruction to perceive the words of understanding.
Help my children to receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, judgement and equity. Help them to be wise, and increase in learning; help them to listen to counsel.
Father, grant my children the fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of wisdom.
Help them not to despise wisdom and instruction. Help my children to hear the instruction of their father, and forsake not the law (teaching) of their mother, for they will bring them honor.
If sinners entice my children to do evil, let them not consent. I pray that they would not walk in the way with them. May they keep their foot from their path.
May they hear the voice of wisdom that is speaking all around them in the things they see and hear about.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
I’m using Proverbs 1:7 with our Sunday School children right now, singing it, memorizing it, and loving the lessons!
Way to go in helping your Sunday school class hide God’s word in their hearts! I still remember verses I learned when I was little. Thanks for stopping by.
Thanks. Shared on Twitter.
You’re welcome. And thanks!
I love praying through scripture like this! It’s so powerful. I pray this year of homeschooling is full of treasured memories. Visiting from #LMMLinkup 🙂
Thank you.
