I’d like to introduce you to two children’s nature book, Ordinary Extraordinary Wood Duckling and Ordinary Extraordinary Gosling. They caught my eye because of their beautiful illustrations and Christian content. Homeschool mom, Sarah Poissant wrote and illustrated them based on her observations in her home state of Vermont.
According to Sarah, “Ordinary Life Extraordinary Truth is a series of children’s books that show how ordinary life is an illustration of the extraordinary truth of God’s love.”

In Ordinary Extraordinary Wood Duckling, you follow a mama wood duck as she builds a nest and lays her eggs. You’ll experience the changes in nature with her as she patiently sits on the eggs. After they hatch, she coaxes the new ducklings to leave the safety of the tree and jump to the river below.

At the end, Sarah ties in the story with our need to respond to Christ’s call on our life.
Did you know that Canadian Geese sometimes adopt stray goslings? I didn’t until I read Ordinary Extraordinary Gosling.

This book is based on the author’s experience of watching a family of geese. One morning, she discovered that the family had an extra gosling. As with the previous book, the illustrations are stunning. At the end of the book, Sarah makes the connection to the adoptive love that God has for His children.

This book would be great for families who have adopted a child.
I hope you have a chance to check these books out. They would make a lovely addition to your home library.
